the growing need for a provider of unique services that will both publicize
and
catalyze the potential for the implementation of the Space Option.
It anticipates this need will materialize with the interrelated issues
of energy, security and the environment become
more topical.
Recent developments and studies in the energy field
have
indicated that global fossil fuel reserves and their exploitation
possibilities may have already peaked and this has occurred at a time
when global
energy requirements are expected to double in the next two decades
as the societies of China and India become more industrialized.
Thus the development of a viable, environmentally friendly alternative
energy
resource to replace humanity’s reliance on fossil fuels as
it’s
primary energy resource with be a major activity in the years ahead.
Environmental and political issues will limit the widespread reliance
on nuclear fission. Most renewable energy resources, while necessary,
useful and desirable in the near time are probably inadequate to meet
the growing needs of sustainability and development. Energy from space
offers the one optimistic alternative on the scale needed to meet potential
terrestrial energy needs in the long term.
In the near term synergies
will be sought between alternative terrestrial energy systems and space
systems. Predicted global environmental and climatic developments will
likely accelerate the development of this space energy technologies
which may lead to the development a totally new energy industry. Europe has the potential to take a lead in this development and indeed
ESA has just embarked on a pioneering study to examine the synergistic
aspects of Earth and Space Solar Power as a part of future European energy
strategy.
Any eventual development of space solar power will lead
to a demand for large space structures (probably inflatable) which will
in turn create
the need to seed new industries to meet this demand. As the potential
for commercialization develops, new financial and service opportunities
will appear which will in turn, stimulate the global economy further.
spaceOp sàrl will be uniquely
positioned to be a provider of services to this anticipated market with
unlimited possibilities. Its products and services will augment and enhance
those
traditionally supplied by the space agencies yet, as a commercial entity,
its focus will be more on the profitability of these activities.
